UNDP honors Kuwait for int'l humanitarian efforts

AMMAN, March 30 (KUNA) — The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) honored Kuwait in recognition of its international humanitarian and development efforts and its prominent role in aiding Syrian refugees.
In a ceremony held late Tuesday to celebrate the program’s 50 anniversary in Amman, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Jordan Hamad Al-Duaij received an honorary shield.
In a statement to KUNA, Al-Duaij expressed his keenness to receive the award, noting Kuwait’s developmental and humanitarian projects around the world.
Speaking at the event, Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour said that UNDP plays a huge role in supporting countries to face crisis and achieve development.
On his part, UNDP Resident Representative in Jordan Edward Kallon said that the program aims to achieve sustainable development in 170 countries. UNDP has been supporting projects in Jordan for 40 years and is exerting massive efforts to ease the suffering of Syrian refugees, he added.(end) mjb.ag
