Syrian shopkeepers close workplaces due to security concerns

HATAY (CIHAN)- Following a clash between Syrian refugees and Turkish local people on late Tuesday, Syrian shopkeepers did not open their workplaces on Wednesday in the southern province of Hatay.

The clash was triggered on Tuesday by an allegation that a young Syrian raped an eight-year-old Turkish girl. Large numbers of local people flocked to streets over the incident. Police intervened in the incident and took security measures in the neighborhood.

On Wednesday, most of the shopkeepers did not open their workplaces following the tense night. Some removed signboards written in Arabic.
