DOHA, Qatar – The Ministry of Public Health of Qatar received a delegation from the US Florida International University (FIU), including 40 students in the Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA), in the framework of bilateral cooperation between the two sides.

During the visit, the students visited major departments of the Ministry of Public Health, where they learned about the Ministry’s vision and mission, as well as, functions of its various departments.

Dr. Saleh bin Ali Al-Marri welcomed the visiting delegation, praising FIU as one of the most important US universities, recognised as a scientific edifice. He expressed hope that the visit would contribute to further enhancing joint cooperation between the two sides to share their experiences and insights in healthcare sector, pointing out that the Ministry of Public Health is keen on establishing partnerships with international bodies, institutions and universities, to take advantage of all the experiences in health sector.

Meanwhile, Dr. Al-Anoud Bint Mohamed Al-Thani, Director of Health Protection and Non-communicable Diseases at the Ministry, said, the Ministry is leading various national surveys and studies, to learn about the development of public health in the State of Qatar. This is especially so with the growing private infrastructure projects at the state level and the increase in the number of foreign expats.

Qatar provides free health care services, through the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and its affiliated hospitals, in addition to the Primary Health Care Corporation and Healthcare Centres across Qatar.
