Khoury inspects National Library, meets Zasypkin

Culture Minister, Ghattas Khoury, on Monday conducted an inspection tour in the new headquarters of the National Library in Beirut’s Sanayeh, in the presence of First Lady Advisor, Claudine Aoun Roukoz, National Library Development Project Director, Gerard Khajerian, and Project Executive Director, Gelnar Atwi Saad.

Following his tour amongst the various departments, Minister Khoury said that the bulk of the renovation work has been accomplished, with the remaining part to be ready in a short period of time.

“I seize the occasion to thank the State of Qatar as the main donor to finance the development of the National Library through the restoration and expansion of the building,” Khoury said.

Khoury hoped that the official inauguration of the library would be taking place in the near future in the presence of President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and the representative of the State of Qatar, along with political, cultural, scientific and academic figures Lebanon.

On the other hand, Khoury met with Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Zasypkin, whereby they held a tour d’horizon over bilateral relations, notably the cultural cooperation and the exchange of expertise in a way that bolsters bilateral ties between the peoples of both countries.

Khoury also met with UN Development Program Residing Representative Ambassador Philippe Lazzarini, with talks majorly touching on cooperation with the Ministry in the framework of the exchange of expertise and the development of programs at the ministry.
