French President receives Emirati, Saudi and Jordanian Foreign Ministers

WAM PARIS, 13th September, 2013 (WAM) — The French President Francois Hollande, today received here H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Foreign Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Saud Al-Faisal, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs and Jordanian Foreign Minister, Nasser Judeh.

During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah convoyed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to the French president, and his best wishes for the friendly people of France, wishing them more progress and prosperity.

For his part, President Hollande asked Sheikh Abdullah to convey his regards and wishes to the UAE President and people, wishing them more progress.

They discussed the regional issues of mutual interest, especially the situation in Syria, following the initiative launched by Moscow to impose the international monitoring on the Syrian chemical weapons arsenal.

The meeting also tackled the importance of intensifying efforts, coordination and consultations to put an end to the suffering of the Syrian people through reaching a political solution. The meeting was also attended by the French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius.

The French presidency said in a statement that President Hollande, Saudi, Jordanian and UAE foreign Ministers agreed on the international support to the democratic opposition in Syria to confront the attacks of the Syrian regime.

It added after the meeting that “the intransigency of the regime in Damascus is in favour of the radical movements in Syria,”, a move that could threaten the regional and international security.
