Abdullah bin Zayed meets number of Egypt’s heads of parties, political leaders

CAIRO, 4th August, 2013 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Foreign Minister, met here today with a number of leaders of Egyptian political parties and national movements and discussed with them current developments in Egypt designed to preserve security and stability in the country.

Among those present were Hamdeen Sabahi, founder of the Egyptian Popular Current, Mahmoud Badr, Coordinator of Tamarud, or Rebel Movement, Mohammed Abdel Aziz, Spokesperson of the movement, and Mohammed Abou el-Ghar, head of the Egyptian Democratic Party.

Sheikh Abdullah emphasised the importance of supporting the roadmap and of working with the transitional government, in order to get out of the current situation through direct and peaceful dialogue, and of rejecting violence and extremism in a way that ensures stability and progress of Egypt in all fields.

He also stressed the interest of the leadership and government of the UAE in the stability and prosperity of Egypt, since it is, he noted, an important country in the Arab world.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed said, “We believe that Egypt is a very important country, not only for the Arab countries but for the whole region as well, so we have to look ahead and make sure that the interim government will succeed in leading Egypt to a better future,” Sheikh Abdullah said.
