IRBIL, June 1 (KUNA) — Kuwait’s Zakat House charity has delivered on Wednesday a total of 1,500 food parcels to the Syrian refugees at Qushtapa camp, south Irbil city, the provincial capital of Kurdistan region in north Iraq.
The relief effort is part of Kuwait initiative to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian refugees who are in dire need of food aid, representative of the charity in the region Khalaf Al-Mutairi said.
“We feel bound to ensure the basic necessities of the Syrian families particularly in the run-up to the holy month of Ramadan,” he said in statements to KUNA.
“With today’s handouts, Zakat House has offered a total of 7,000 food parcels to the Syrian refugees at four camps in Irbil governorate,” Al-Mutairi added.
Qushtapa camp shelters nearly 6,500 persons who have fled the conflict in northeast Syria, particularly Kobane since October, 2014. (pickup previous) sbr.gb
