Work underway for building Sheikh Jaber Bridge — official

KUWAIT, June 6 (KUNA) — Up to 57 percent of designing and construction work of Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad bridge project has been accomplished, a senior official of the Public Works Ministry said on Monday.
In a statement, Ahmad Al-Hesan, the assistant undersecretary for engineering, said the venture includes construction of a 36.14-km-long bridge over sea waters, stretching from Al-Ghazali speedway to Al-Sabiyah The KD 738.750 million project includes construction of two man-made islands; one close to Kuwait City and the other adjacent to Al-Sabiyah.
He re-affirmed that the project is part of the strategy to transform Kuwait into a regional financial and commercial hub. (end) am.rk
