Two Security Personnel Killed in Bomb Explosion Southeast Turkey

Ankara, – Two Turkish security personnel were killed and eight people injured Monday by a bomb which exploded on a highway in southeastern Turkey’s Mardin province.

According to military sources, PKK militants detonated explosives as a vehicle carrying soldiers and village guards travelled along the Kiziltepe – Derik highway. The wounded were immediately taken to hospitals nearby and an operation was launched to catch the militants.

The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and EU and resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.
