Two policemen killed in clashes with IS — Iraqi security source

BAGHDAD, June 17 (KUNA) — Two Iraqi senior police officers were killed during clashes with operatives from the so-called Islamic State (IS) in the Salahuddin governorate, said a security source Friday.
The source told KUNA that IS operatives tried to infiltrate into a town in Salahuddin governorate, located north of the capital Baghdad.
The act resulted in clashes with security forces, leading to the death of two senior officers in addition to the injury of five other policemen.
The Iraqi security forces and army are currently carrying out widespread operations to rid several regions from IS presence. (end) ahh.gta
