A smart jacket for workers, created by a Qatari engineer to follow up the health situation of the worker and take appropriate action in case of an emergency, was launched yesterday by Minister of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs, HE Dr Issa bin Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi.

The smart jacket was launched on the sidelines of the 2nd Occupational Safety and Health Conference. The jacket features a helmet with a cooling system and a chip that gives signals if he or she is at risk, such as excessive stress, rapid heartbeat, or increased breathing.

The sensors in the jacket send signals to the control room indicating the condition of the worker, and thus take appropriate action in the workplace, thanks to the tracking system operated by solar power and which includes an audio communication system.

Dr Al-Nuaimi expressed pride in this important Qatari invention as it contains many advantages, including cooling option during high temperature and biometrics and health status monitoring.
