Sheikh Zayed Library opened in Vietnam university.

UAE Ambassador to Vietnam Obaid Saeed Obaid Al Daheri has inaugurated the Sheikh Zayed Library in the Division of Arabic Language and Culture at the University of Languages and International Studies Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

The move is an initiative of the UAE Embassy, which bore the cost of building the library, and it also coincided with the celebration of the World Arabic Language Day in December 2018.

The opening ceremony was attended by UAE delegation, Associate Professor Ngo Minh Thuy, University’s Vice-Rector, and heads of various departments of the university, professors, and students.

On this occasion, the UAE Ambassador delivered a speech in which he emphasised the importance of the noble message of education in the advancement of humanity and nations through its pioneering role in building the minds of young people and creating new generations armed with science.

He pointed out that the education sector has a large share of UAE’s foreign aid, noting that the opening of the library coincides with the ‘Year of Tolerance’.

For her part, the Vice-Rector thanked the UAE and its embassy for their continued support for Arabic language teaching in Vietnam, noting that Sheikh Zayed Library is the first Arabic language library in Vietnam.

The launch of Sheikh Zayed’s name is a driving force for the students of the Arabic Language Division towards further learning, strengthening their knowledge and developing their skills. This will enable them to learn about the UAE culture in particular and the Arab world in general, which will, in turn, contribute to a greater rapprochement between Arab and Vietnamese cultures.

Finally, the UAE Ambassador presented the Arabic Language Division with a copy of the book “My story” of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

He added that the UAE Embassy will supply the library with more Arabic language books very soon.
