Qatar participates in WHO Regional Committee for Eastern Mediterranean Conferences

​Qatar participated in the 67th session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean, which was concluded today, via video conferencing. The Qatar delegation was chaired by Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al-Kuwari, Minister of Public Health.

​The committee’s two-day meetings discussed a number of important topics, most notably the preparation and response of COVID-19 in the Eastern Mediterranean region, the developments in the delivery of basic health services during the COVID-19 pandemic, improvement of the availability of essential medications, vaccines and medical products in the region.

The meetings discussed the Regional Director’s annual report for 2019 and progress reports on polio eradication, improving the practice of family medicine: progress towards universal health coverage, the regional strategic framework for blood safety and availability, private sector participation to promote universal health coverage, and the regional approach to the implementation of the 13th General Programme of Action 2019-2022.
