Qatar handball team to take on Malaysia in Asian Games

Jakarta, Qatar handball team will begin their campaign in the 18th Asian Games on Monday with a match against Malaysia within Group A.

The handball competitions in the Asian Games will feature 13 teams divided into four groups. Group A includes Qatar, Iran and Malaysia, Group B consists of South Korea, Japan and Pakistan, Group C includes Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong, Group D consists of Bahrain, Taipei, India and Iraq.

The first and second of each group will qualify for the main round in which the eight teams will be divided into two groups of four teams in each group, with the first and second qualifying to the semi-finals.

The Qatari handball team arrived in Jakarta on Sunday to participate in the Asian Games.

The Qatari handball team aim to repeat their victory in 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea after beating South Korea for the gold medal in the final 24/21.
