ANKARA, Aug 1 (KUNA) — At least five Turkish policemen were killed and four others wounded by a car bomb took place in Bingol Governorate in eastern Turkey, said an official on Monday.
The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) detonated a car with explosives, while a police shuttle bus was passing by, Turkey’s Anadolu Agency quoted governor of Bingol Yavuz Selim as saying.
Ambulances were dispatched to the area while the injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
He indicated that security forces launched military operations to arrest the perpetrators.
The eastern and southeastern regions of Turkey have been witnessing armed clashes between Turkish troops and the PKK, which has resumed fighting in July, 2015, after a five-year suspension.
