National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking in final discussions on �Victim Support Fund’

WAM Dubai, 3rd Nov. 2013 (WAM): The subcommittee of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking held a meeting in the headquarters of the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs in Abu Dhabi to discuss the final preparations for establishing a fund for supporting victims of human trafficking, as well as revising a draft decision on the establishment of the fund.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Saeed Mohammad Al Ghafli, Assistant Undersecretary for Federal National Council Affairs in the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs and member of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking; Afra Rashid Al Basti, Executive Director of the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, and Colonel Mohammed Al Shehhi from the Department of Human Rights in the Ministry of Interior, Chancellor Hassan Mohammed Al Hammadi, Chief Prosecutor of Funds in Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution, Sara Ibrahim Shuhail, Director of Executive Centers “Eewa’a”, and Mr. Ahmed Bahaa El Din from the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs.

“The Fund will help victims overcome the financial problems they face as a result of exploitation,” said Dr.Al Ghafli, and added, “Rehabilitation of victims and bringing them under special programmes are carried out by the “Ewa’a” centres in the UAE.” Dr. Al Ghafli said “this meeting has been held to develop plans for the future, which will be submitted to the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking about regulations of the “Victim Support Fund”.

The National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking had adopted a decision to establish a fund to support victims of human trafficking, during the 31st meeting of the committee, in order to support the victims and help them meet their future needs.” WAM/TF
