MADA AND QATAR AUTISM SOCIETY PROMOTE AWARENESS ON THE RIGHTS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

Qatar Assistive Technology Center (Mada), of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, and Qatar Autism Society, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), for the coordination of a joint cooperation between the parties, on the sidelines of the Educational Conference of Assistive Technology for the Gulf Region 2018 (GREAT 2018), held from April 23 to 25.

The MoU supports the efforts of the parties in the area of community outreach through collaboration and joint interaction in organizing awareness-raising and information initiatives and campaigns contributing to the dissemination, awareness raising and culture of the rights of persons with disabilities in general and those with autism in particular, as well as awareness of the importance of digital access and technology to help empower and improve the lives of persons with disabilities.

Cooperation between the two parties also includes the provision of assistive technology devices, training and education in independent life-support for holders of the Society cards for persons of autism, in addition to the provision of technological advice and the exchange of experiences to empower target groups, and facilitate their integration into society.
