French Interior Minister offers compromise on banned protest march

PARIS, June 22 (KUNA) — In a surprise development Wednesday, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve offered a compromise to allow a much-shortened protest march by anti-reform protesters on Thursday.
The unions have accepted the compromise and Cazeneuve’s proposal for a protest-march itinerary of only 1.6 km in the Bastille district of the city and they have caved in on a demand for a much longer route, where security officials said they could not protect people and property.
Earlier, security officials at the Police Prefecture said they were banning the march totally and unions were offered only a static protest in the French capital. (Pick up previous) jk.ajs
