Diplomatic institute Holds A Seminar on Challenges facing Diplomats

Doha, November 20 (QNA) – The diplomatic institute on Tuesday held a scientific seminar under the theme “Challenges facing Diplomats”. The seminar was attended by HE the United Kingdom s ambassador to Qatar and a number of Foreign Ministry staff.
HE Simon Fraser, Permanent Under Secretary of State,  Foreign and Commonwealth Office (UK) gave a speech during the seminar  that tackled the priorities of the United Kingdom’s foreign policy, challenges faced and its targets amid the ongoing political and economic fast changes.
He said that the United Kingdom is currently working with international partners to secure safer lives for its citizens, at home and abroad alike, amid the various challenges the world is now facing as a result of the global economic crisis, terrorism, Nuclear weapon proliferation, and the infightings.
He noted that the diplomats is seeing more challenges from the world that is becoming more complicated due to the rise of more powerful sides who are related to politics as a result of the ongoing fast changes and developments of the political arena.
He further said, “This is why diplomats today should have flexibility in dealing with developments outside the protocol text, and to meet and adapt with the challenges, to highly perfect and master the language of the respective countries they work in and possess expertise in their culture and heritage and arts.”
After concluding his speech, Mr. Simon Fraser answered a number of questions posed to him by the audience.
At the end of the seminar, Director of the Diplomatic Institute HE Ambassador Dr Hassan Ibrahim Al Mohannadi presented him the Institute’s shield. (QNA
