Commander of Qatar Emiri Naval Forces Hails HH the Emir’s Support to DIMDEX

Doha, March 29 – Major General Mohammed Nasser Al Mohannadi, Commander of Qatar Emiri Naval Forces, said that HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s patronage and continued support to the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX) made the expo a pioneering event regionally and internationally.

In his speech delivered before the opening of the 5th edition of DIMDEX, Al Mohannadi said DIMDEX 2016 has now become the largest specialized maritime naval defense and security exhibition in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, bringing major companies and new exhibitors demonstrating the latest technologies to meet the maritime security challenges in the twentieth century.

Al Mohannadi extended his deep gratitude and thanks to HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Commander in Chief of the Qatar Armed Forces, for his patronage and his continuous support as well as for gracing the opening session of the DIMDEX 2016.

Since its inception in 2008, the exhibition has not only witnessed an increase in the exhibition’s total surface area which is amounted to 25,000 square meters, but also an increase in the numbers of exhibitors and participating countries that reached more than 58 countries, said Commander of Qatar Emiri Naval Forces.

He also highlighted the confidence placed by the participants in the expo which brings together industry experts from all over the world to share cutting edge technologies in maritime security.

Commander in Chief of the Qatar Armed Forces said that the DIMDEX’s activities include the Middle East Naval Commanders Conference which will be held under the patronage of HE Minister of State for Defense Affairs.

First held in 2008, DIMDEX has witnessed continuous growth to become a leading event in the international maritime defense and security industry calendar. DIMDEX is much more than just an exhibition; the three-day event also features the international strategic Middle East Naval Commanders Conference (MENC), the visit of warships to Doha Commercial Port and elite VIP delegation visits.
