Azerbaijan and Iran to speed up talks on cooperation in field of energy and water resources

Baku: During the ninth meeting of the Azerbaijani-Iranian intergovernmental commission on trade-economic and humanitarian cooperation, the two countries have reached an agreement on continuation of the construction and operation of “Khudaferin” and “Giz Galasi” hydroknots and hydroelectric power plants.

According to APA-Economics, Shahin Mustafayev, co-chair of the Azerbaijani-Iranian intergovernmental commission on trade-economic and humanitarian cooperation and Minister of Economy and Industry, spoke of this during today’s Azerbaijan-Iran business forum.

The Minister said that an agreement was reached on considering all the relevant issues regarding the cooperation in the field of energy and water resources and speeding up the talks.

Mustafayev also added that during the ninth meeting of the Commission, the two countries also reached an agreement on implementation of the agreement signed on 9 April, 2014 in Tehran between the governments of Azerbaijan and Iran concerning the construction and operation of hydroelectric power plants “Ordubad” and “Marazad” upon its approval by the relevant authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its entry into force.
