Abdullah bin Zayed continues his meetings in New York

WAM NEW YORK, 29th September, 2013 (WAM) — The UAE Foreign Minister, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, held yesterday a series of meetings with other Foreign Ministers taking part in the 68th session of the UN General Assembly.

Discussions during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif dealt with ways to resolve the issue of the Iranian occupation of the UAE’s three islands of the Greater and Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa. They also exchanged views on regional issues.

The UAE foreign minister also met with the Foreign Ministers of Ireland, Eamonn Gilmore, of India, Salman Khurshid, and of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Anifah bin Haji Aman. Discussions were centred on the promotion of bilateral co-operation, especially in the diplomatic, economic, culture, tourism fields, and ways to promote investment opportunities in these countries.

Views were also exchanged on developments on the regional and international arenas, particularly the Syrian crisis and the developments of the internal situation in Egypt.

Sheikh Abdullah also discussed with his irish counterpart his forthcoming visit to Ireland in November. Both Ministers expressed their satisfaction with the level of development of relations between the two countries in recent years, especially in the field of diplomatic relations.
