3rd int’l cartoon gathering opens in Cairo

CAIRO, March 20 (KUNA) — Egypt’s Culture Minister Helmi Al-Namnam inaugurated Sunday the 3rd International Cartoon Gathering in which about 320 artists from some Arab and foreign countries, including Kuwait, are taking place.
The main topic of the gathering is education, the minister told reporters in remarks on the sidelines of the inauguration, underlining the significance of education in spreading culture and developing thought.
He lauded the big participation of Arab and foreign countries in the gathering’s events which run until March 27.
Cartoonists contributed to shedding light on problems facing education in the Arab world and all countries across the globe, he said.
Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Ambassador to Egypt Salem Ghassab Al-Zamanan stressed in a statement to KUNA his country’s keenness on taking part in all events held in Egypt, mainly the ones related to culture and arts.
He praised Kuwaiti artists’ participation in the gathering, indicating that they managed, through their paintings, to highlight Kuwait’s cultural aspect.
Artists from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Russia, Ukraine, Tunisia, Brazil, Italy, Turkey, China, Iran, South Korea, Kuwait, and others are participating in the gathering. (end) msh.asm.hm
