CAIRO, May 28 (KUNA) — The international peace conference slated for June 3 in Paris will have as points of reference the relevant UN resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative, the Middle East Roadmap, and the accords previously signed between the Palestinians and the Israelis, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said.
Abbas made the statement at an extraordinary meeting of the Arab foreign ministers’ held at the Arab League’s headquarters in Cairo on Saturday.
In addition, the major goal of the Paris conference has to be reiterating the two-state solution, he stressed It is high time the Arab and international were mustered for the Palestinian people to win their freedom, and for a just and agreed-upon solution to the issue of refugees, as well as establishing an independent Palestinian state on the orders of 4 June 1967, he said.
East Jerusalem, entirely occupied, by Israel in 1967 is the capital of Palestine, the president said noting that the term “temporary borders” is “utterly rejected.” Abbas said they had previously recognized the State of Israel, but “we will never accept, or recognize, the term the Jewish State. We demand establishing a Palestinian State — already approved by the whole world, and nothing else will be accepted. We will not allow any Israeli inside the (future) State of Palestine.” Meanwhile, Abbas reiterated the necessity of unification the Palestinian ranks, as Palestinians cannot be divided forever.
The Kuwaiti delegation to the ministerial meeting is led by Assistant Foreign Minister for the Arab Affairs Aziz Al-Dihani.
Featuring in the agenda of the Cairo meeting is coordination for the Arab action regarding the Palestinian cause in light of the French initiative, besides the developments in Libya and Yemen.
The meeting will also discuss a draft agenda for the 27th Arab Summit slated for July 25 in Mauritania’s capital Nouakchott. (end) mfm.rg.msa
