Washington: US retail sales rose by 0.2 percent in September. The US Department of Commerce said in a report released Tuesday that retail sales increased by 0.2 percent that month, following an unrevised gain of 0.6 percent in August. The report also noted that retail sales rose 4.3 percent year-on-year.
According to Qatar News Agency, the report said that sales at auto dealerships fell by 0.3 percent in September, after rising by 0.6 percent in August. Sales at clothing stores declined by 0.7 percent, and sales at electronics and home appliance outlets fell by 0.5 percent.
Conversely, sales at furniture stores rose by 0.6 percent, while revenues at building materials and garden equipment stores and suppliers increased by 0.2 percent.
It is worth noting that the report was originally scheduled for release in mid-October but was delayed due to the 43-day government shutdown.
