El-alamein: A preparatory meeting of senior officials for the Qatari-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee in its seventh session was held on Wednesday in the city of El-Alamein, Egypt. The meeting was organized in anticipation of the main session scheduled for Thursday, with participation from numerous representatives of ministries and relevant authorities from both Qatar and Egypt.
According to Qatar News Agency, the State of Qatar's delegation was led by HE Director of the Arab Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nayef Al Emadi. The Egyptian delegation was headed by HE Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Arab Affairs, Ihab Fahmy. During the meeting, the two sides examined the progress made in bilateral cooperation and reviewed documents planned for signing during the Committee's seventh session. This session will be chaired by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and HE Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Badr Abdelatty.
The discussions highlighted the strengthening Qatari-Egyptian relations across various fields, notably in economic, investment, and trade areas. They particularly noted advances following the launch of the first phase of the "Alam El Roum" project. Additionally, both parties welcomed the agreement to initiate the first round of negotiations on the comprehensive economic partnership agreement between the two countries in October, aimed at fostering economic integration to serve the interests of both nations.
The meeting also underscored the importance of the regularity of the Higher Committee meetings. Both sides appreciated the close coordination and ongoing consultations between Qatar and Egypt regarding regional and international issues, as well as their joint efforts to promote de-escalation and achieve stability and sustainable peace in the region.
