Doha: Qatar has unveiled a new digital transformation roadmap for its transport and logistics sector, part of a national push to accelerate digitisation across priority economic areas and strengthen the country's position as a smart regional logistics hub.
According to Qatar News Agency, the announcement was made during MWC25 Doha by the Ministries of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and Transport. This roadmap is a key output of Qatar's Digital Transformation Offices initiative, which aims to build integrated digital ecosystems across sectors such as transport, logistics, tourism, infrastructure, and healthcare. The focus is on boosting innovation, empowering the private sector, improving user experience, and embedding AI at the core of sectoral strategies.
Reem Al Mansoori, MCIT's Assistant Undersecretary for Digital Industry, stated that the roadmap includes 39 strategic initiatives designed to redesign the national transport system through smarter data-driven supply chains. She highlighted that the integrated digital ecosystem is expected to contribute more than QAR 278 million to the non-oil ICT sector.
Khalifa Al Hajri, adviser to the Minister of Transport, emphasized the importance of shifting from traditional infrastructure to intelligent management systems to maintain competitiveness. He mentioned that the roadmap centers on three pillars: infrastructure efficiency, service integration, and global connectivity.
One of the flagship projects is the Digital Logistics Services Portal, a single-window platform for all operators in the sector aimed at streamlining procedures and integrating transport services across modes. Additionally, the ministries will collaborate with partners on digital asset management platforms, advanced data analytics systems, and smart-port and smart-airport services. There are also initiatives to enhance public-private collaboration through unified digital solutions.
