Qatar’s MWC25 Doha Conference Marks Regional First in Digital Innovation

Doha: Qatari newspapers spotlighted the inauguration of the MWC25 Doha conference by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, marking its first occurrence in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The event, organized by the GSMA Association alongside the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, attracted leading global, regional, and local companies to Doha, serving as a platform to highlight the latest technological advancements.

According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers also emphasized the announcement by HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, regarding the Silatech program's achievement of creating five million employment opportunities. Al-Raya editorially commended Qatar's strategic investments in digital transformation, particularly in AI, big data, and smart networks, contributing to sectors like healthcare and financial services. This approach underscores Qatar's vision to enhance digital inclusion and establish itself as a technological innovation hub.

Al-Raya further noted that the MWC25 Doha Conference took place at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, involving leading international, regional, and local companies. International reports have confirmed Qatar's global leadership in AI technology, big data, and advanced 5G networks, highlighting the significance of strategic investments by the State. The launch of the Qatar Sixth Generation (6G) Testbed Platform by the Communications Regulatory Authority marks a milestone in Qatar's digital innovation journey.

The editorial concluded with remarks from HE Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, indicating the telecommunications industry's focus on AI-driven network efficiency and adaptability. This shift suggests a transformation from service providers to knowledge-based infrastructure, positioning Qatar as a leader in digital transformation in the MENA region, where mobile service subscribers number 427 million.

Al-Watan daily emphasized the significance of MWC25 Doha as a pivotal moment for digital infrastructure development. The paper highlighted HE Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai's remarks on the event underscoring the MENA region's role in shaping future communication technologies, reflecting readiness for smart digital infrastructures.

Al-Watan concluded with a statement from GSMA Director General Vivek Badrinath, asserting that the success of this edition in Qatar validates the decision to host the conference in the country.
