Qatar’s Digital Transformation and Investment Growth Highlighted in Local Newspaper Editorials

Doha: Qatari newspapers have spotlighted the nation's significant strides in digital transformation and its robust position on the global investment landscape. According to Qatar News Agency, the editorials emphasized Qatar's evolving role in digital transformation, backed by advanced infrastructure and innovation-supportive policies. These efforts are aligned with the requirements of the digital economy, as international reports have confirmed Qatar's leadership in adopting artificial intelligence, big data, and advanced 5G networks, showcasing the success of its strategic investments.

The newspapers also highlighted Qatar's prominent position on the global investment map, with the country ranking second worldwide in greenfield foreign direct investment (FDI) projects per million inhabitants projected for 2025. This ranking, based on data from the International Media Office, underscores Qatar's adoption of policies and measures that have strengthened its investment appeal.

In addition, the editorials covered the Ministry of Education and Higher Education's comprehensive preparations for the 2026-2027 academic year. These preparations include the completion of academic, organizational, and operational plans, ensuring that the school environment is ready for a smooth and effective start to the educational process.

On regional matters, the papers condemned the ongoing escalation of Israeli efforts to Judaize Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem. They noted that this comes as the 57th anniversary of the Al-Aqsa arson crime passes, with new realities being imposed on the ground through repeated incursions and the performance of religious rituals within the mosque courtyards, sometimes involving Israeli government officials.

Al-Raya emphasized that Qatar continues to reinforce its leading position in digital transformation through its advanced infrastructure and expansion of telecommunications services. The newspaper highlighted Qatar's impressive score of 98.4 out of 100 on the International Telecommunication Union's Information and Communication Technology Development Index for 2026, which ranks it sixth among 159 assessed economies. This achievement reflects Qatar's progress in advancing digital infrastructure and expanding connectivity.

Al-Arab focused on Qatar's economic strength, driven by solid foundations that attract investments. The newspaper noted the 24% year-on-year growth in investments, with 176 new projects recorded last year. The Qatar Financial Centre reported a 37% increase in registered companies in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, indicating the attractiveness of Qatar's business environment.

Both newspapers concluded that Qatar's strategic investments and policies make it an attractive destination for regional and global investments, bolstering economic development, generating job opportunities, and enhancing market stability.
