Doha: Qatari newspapers highlighted in their Tuesday editorials the opening of the 12th edition of the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), held in the presence of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, under the theme 'Humanity.io: Human Values at the Heart of Education,' with the participation of a select group of leaders, experts and innovators from more than 150 countries around the world. The newspapers affirmed that this consolidates WISE as a global platform that brings together leaders, thinkers and innovators to discuss the future of education and build more just and equitable education systems around the world.

According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers confirmed that this edition of WISE underlined the importance of human values and placing them at the heart of the educational system, adding that these values should serve as the compass that guides progress in a world where technologies are accelerating and challenges are increasing with the continuous developments in AI applications.

For its part, Al-Watan newspaper said in its editorial that the theme of the 12th edition of WISE, 'Humanity.io: Human Values at the Heart of Education,' embodies the true value of human beings as the goal and purpose of the educational process, since it is an investment in progress, advancement and achievement across all fields. The newspaper added that HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser explained in a speech that AI represents a qualitative challenge, as it is happening for the first time in history that a human being is giving up part of their intelligence in favor of a machine that is able to make decisions quickly and effectively, exceeding their capabilities. Her Highness warned of the dangers of expanding AI applications to a level that could affect human freedom and put people in a state of technological dependency if they are not controlled by clear ethical principles. She called for proactive awareness and a vision capable of creating solutions and shaping the future of education.

Al-Watan concluded its editorial by saying that what was heard from the first day of the WISE Summit confirmed that building fairer education systems around the world is a more urgent requirement than any other, as education is the key to development, progress, and prosperity.

In turn, Al-Sharq said the 12th edition of WISE featured a distinguished group of leaders, experts and innovators from more than 150 countries around the world, which reinforced its position as a global platform that brings together leaders, thinkers and innovators to discuss the future of education and build more equitable and just education systems around the world. The newspaper referred to WISE's theme 'Humanity.io: Human Values at the Heart of Education' which reflects the importance WISE attaches to human values and placing them at the heart of the educational system, adding that these values should serve as the compass that guides progress in a world where technologies are accelerating and challenges are increasing with the continuous developments in AI applications.

Concluding its editorial, Al-Sharq said placing human values at the heart of the education system represents an important pillar in the vision of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, who focuses, through her global efforts and initiatives, on ensuring the right to education for all, especially in conflict zones, and on developing education through scientific research.
