Cultural Tourism Is Creativity, Development’ Engine in Qatar -6-

Qatar's cultural projects continue... It is a journey of construction and giving that does not stop in the various state institutions, where efforts join forces to continually elevate the pillars of Qatari culture with its Arab and Islamic roots.

Among the most important cultural projects that Qatar Museums intends to establish during the next few years is the Art Mills Museum, which will display an exceptional international art collection acquired over the past forty years, in addition to multidisciplinary diverse artworks, covering a period of time from 1850 to present time.

In its main building, which covers an area of 80,000 square meters (of which 23,000 square meters is exhibition space), the Mills Art Museum is expected to showcase unique visual art works, architecture, design, films, film sets, fashion, handicrafts, and much more.

Art Mills, as a leading institution in non-Arab countries, will present modern and contemporary arts from all regions of the world on an equal footing, while engaging both local and global audiences, through multiple narratives of art history.

The museum's park was distinctively designed by the engineering company Vogt Landscape, led by Gunther Vogt. The museum will be a destination for creativity in the fields of arts, crafts and design, and will provide entertainment, educational and productive resources to the public and creative communities in Qatar and abroad.

The Art Mills Museum is the culmination of a 25-year cultural plan that aims to place modern and contemporary Arab art on the map of global art, allowing for greater participation with the rest of the world through the creation of new, distinctive narratives.

Among the anticipated, pioneering cultural projects is the Lusail Museum, of which details were announced by Qatar Museums during the Lusail Museum's special exhibition, "Stories of a World That Brings Us Together", which opened on Oct. 23, 2022 at the Qatar Museums Gallery - Al Rawaq, which provided an overview of the new Lusail Museum and its design.

Located in the city of Lusail to be a meeting point and an opportunity for mutual understanding, the building of Lusail Museum was designed by the Pritzker award-winning 'Herzog & de Meuron' architectural firm. The museum will operate in innovative ways to shed light on historical moments that have either been overlooked or misinterpreted, and to stimulate debate around them in order to help a better understanding of the present.
