UK, France, NATO Push to De-escalate Middle East Tensions

London: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on the escalating situation in the Middle East. A UK government statement said the three leaders stressed the need to end the war in Iran and to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to restore freedom of navigation and ensure the uninterrupted flow of global trade.

According to Qatar News Agency, the leaders also discussed the European security presence already in the region and welcomed close coordination among European allies. The discussions highlight the concerted effort by European nations to address the ongoing challenges and maintain stability in the Middle East.

The talks come at a time when tensions in the Middle East have significant implications for global trade, particularly the crucial energy supplies that pass through the Strait of Hormuz. The involvement of both UK and French leadership, along with NATO's support, underscores the importance of a unified approach to resolving the conflict and safeguarding international interests.
