WFP Condemns Attack on Food Trucks in South Kordofan

Kadugli:South Kordofan: The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has condemned an aerial attack on two trucks contracted to transport food commodities in Sudan's South Kordofan state, resulting in the death of one driver. The organization has called for a prompt and impartial investigation into the incident and for those responsible for any violations to be held accountable.

According to Qatar News Agency, the WFP is still gathering details about the attack, including the extent of the damage to the food cargo. The organization has urged all parties involved in the hostilities to adhere to international humanitarian law, protect civilians and infrastructure, and ensure the safe movement of humanitarian personnel and cargo.

The attack highlights the challenging security conditions in Sudan and the risks faced by aid workers delivering assistance. WFP has reaffirmed its commitment to providing life-saving support to millions across Sudan who rely on humanitarian aid.

The trucks, clearly marked as humanitarian vehicles, were traveling from Dilling to Kadugli when they were attacked early on Saturday, October 3.
