UNRWA Reports Dire Conditions for Displaced in Gaza Amid Approaching Cold Weather

Gaza: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported that thousands of displaced individuals in the Gaza Strip are facing significant challenges in securing safe shelter as cold weather approaches, following the ongoing repercussions of the Israeli entity's two-year conflict in the region.

According to Qatar News Agency, UNRWA highlighted the dire situation through a post on X, stating that "thousands of internally displaced people in the Gaza Strip are struggling to find safe shelter in preparation for the coming cold weather." The agency emphasized the need for more shelter supplies, as many people are left with no option but to construct makeshift tents.

UNRWA also provided data indicating that over 79,000 displaced persons are currently residing in the 85 shelters managed by the agency. The situation is exacerbated by inadequate shelter conditions, which make them susceptible to harsh weather conditions.

Stephane Dujarric, the spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, issued a warning regarding the precarious state of many families in Gaza. He noted that the shelters are poorly equipped and prone to flooding, which heightens the vulnerability of the displaced population to adverse weather conditions.
