Cairo:HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, Saeed bin Abdullah Al Suwaidi, who also serves as Chairman of the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law and Chair of the Arab Permanent Committee for International Humanitarian Law, met with HE Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Nabil Fahmy.
According to Qatar News Agency, this meeting was held on the sidelines of a workshop focused on the national implementation of international humanitarian law.
The discussions between the two leaders centered around reviewing the work program of the Arab Permanent Committee for International Humanitarian Law. They explored strategies to enhance the committee's regional role in promoting international humanitarian law principles and raising awareness, thus aiding Arab states in applying the law nationally.
HE the Secretary-General expressed his support for Qatar's leadership of the Arab Permanent Committee for International Humanitarian Law. He pledged the necessary resources to bolster the committee's mandate, enhance its influence in promoting international humanitarian law, and increase awareness of its principles among Arab states, contributing to the committee’s success in achieving its foundational goals.
