TO celebrate the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan, Silatech is running a nationwide fundraising campaign under the theme “Your Generosity is a path to Livelihood” aiming to support the world’s most vulnerable and marginalized young people by providing them with employment and economic opportunities they are in urgent need of.
The campaign intends to raise funds to support Silatech’s projects across the world with a specific focus on the MENA supporting youth in its countries of operations including Yemen, Morocco, Ethiopia, and Somalia.
According to the latest report from the International Labor Organization (ILO), global unemployment is projected to stand at 208 million in 2023 while high inflation rates eat into wages. In the MENA region, the situation is direr, with a youth unemployment rate of 26 percent, the highest in the world.
Through its network of partners, Silatech has been working to economically empower young people globally through job placements and enterprise development to overcome the challenges of unemployment, poverty, and exclusion by providing them with innovative and technical skills, training, and access to finance needed to start their own enterprises, enter the workforce, and contribute to the growth and development of their communities.
Silatech is committed to tackling the global youth unemployment crisis with its partners by reaching over five million young people.
Silatech Head of Partnership and Resource Mobilization Fahad Malik said: “During the holy month of Ramadan, Silatech invites all communities to join us and actively participate in our Annual Ramadan Fundraising Campaign and be part of changing the lives of millions of young men and women for a better future.”
“We believe that change can only happen if we work together, and we call upon everyone to support our mission to ensure all young people have access to decent work and sustainable livelihood,” he added.
A Single youth supported does not change the life of a single person, but it also provides the hope and livelihoods of an entire family, at the same time promoting security and stability within the most marginalized communities around the world, said in a press statement.
