Doha: Qatar Foundation (QF), in collaboration with Boston College's Center for International Higher Education, has launched a pioneering bilingual journal titled "Ta'leem: The Arabic and English Higher Education Periodic," during the WISE 12 Summit. This initiative aims to integrate bilingual scholarship into the global higher education discourse.
According to Qatar News Agency, the launch event brought together higher education leaders, scholars, and practitioners. The attendees explored a vision for academic inquiry and institutional practice that is both values-driven and locally grounded while maintaining a global engagement. The event fostered inclusive and cross-linguistic dialogue within the higher education landscape, encouraging educators, scholars, and thought leaders to collaborate in bridging Arabic and English scholarship.
Francisco Marmolejo, President of Higher Education and Education Advisor at QF, emphasized that "Ta'leem positions the Arab region not as a periphery of global higher education, but as a vital contributor." He highlighted the journal's role in speaking from the region to a global audience.
Dr. Samah Gamar, Associate Editor and Director of Academic Affairs within QF's Higher Education division, noted that "Ta'leem builds on our call to center local knowledge in global education policy debates." She described the bilingual publication model as an intervention in education policy, underscoring its significance in enriching global academic dialogue.
