Aichi-Nagoya:The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) presented the lasting impact of its Qatar Volunteer Programme at Bayt Qatar, an initiative by the Qatar Olympic Committee, at the Asian Games 2026 held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan from September 19 to October 4.
According to Qatar News Agency, former volunteers who contributed to significant events like the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, and the Qatar Football Season 2025, were part of the SC delegation. Bayt Qatar offered an interactive experience celebrating Qatar's heritage and sports achievements. As Qatar continues to prepare for future major events, the volunteer program remains central in delivering exceptional experiences.
Haya Al Noaimi, SC Event Workforce and Volunteers Executive Director, emphasized Qatar's sporting legacy in nurturing a strong volunteer culture. She noted the volunteers' role in Bayt Qatar as a testament to the enduring culture of volunteerism in Qatar, which enhances community and event experiences. Al Noaimi highlighted how this culture creates a community of skilled volunteers who bolster Qatar's capacity to host international events.
Ali Al Khater, a volunteer from the oil and gas sector, shared his experiences as a guest relations volunteer at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. He reflected on how the event demonstrated the unifying power of sport and expressed pride in sharing Qatar's passion for world-class tournaments with Japanese fans.
Lolwa Bu Karbal, an architecture student and volunteer, used her Korean language skills during Qatar 2022 to foster cultural exchange. She described volunteering as an opportunity to promote diversity and share Qatar's cultural richness while connecting with people from different backgrounds.
Japanese volunteer Katsuko Suzuki, living in Qatar for 18 years, participated in several events, including the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. She expressed pride in the cultural similarities between Japan and Qatar, emphasizing hospitality and love for football, and hoped to inspire more Japanese people to visit Qatar.
During the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, over 20,000 volunteers were involved, establishing a legacy of community spirit and support for diverse functions. In 2025, 4,000 volunteers contributed to a record-breaking football season featuring multiple FIFA finals and Gulf Cups.
Looking ahead, Qatar plans to host the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2026 from November 19 to December 13, with 750 volunteers across nine functional areas. Future international events include the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, FIFA Arab Cup 2029, FIVB Volleyball World Championship 2029, and the Asian Games 2030, showcasing the ongoing involvement of Qatar's expanding volunteer community.
