Qatar Diamond Exchange Forms Strategic Alliances with Major Asian Bourses

Singapore: The Qatar Diamond Exchange (QDE) has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Diamond Exchange of Singapore, the Shanghai Diamond Exchange, and the Tokyo Diamond Exchange during the 41st World Diamond Congress in Singapore.

According to Qatar News Agency, these agreements signify QDE's strategic initiative to foster stronger ties with prominent diamond markets across Asia. The partnerships aim to establish new avenues for trade and collaboration between Qatar and the region. Ghanim Nasser Al Saadi, Director of QDE, and the presidents of the partner bourses-Fabio Cascapera of Singapore, Lin Qiang of Shanghai, and Michio Iwasaki of Tokyo-signed each MoU.

The MoUs are designed to create a framework for business connections, encourage commercial relationships, and foster mutual introductions between members of QDE and the partner exchanges. They further include provisions for bilateral visits and reciprocal participation in industry events such as tenders, auctions, and viewings organized by the exchanges.

The partnerships also strive to enhance consumer confidence in natural diamonds and precious stones by promoting adherence to recognized industry standards, such as the World Diamond Council's System of Warranties and initiatives led by the Responsible Jewellery Council. Director Al Saadi emphasized that these new alliances are a crucial step in expanding QDE's engagement across Asia, opening new channels for trade and investment, and reinforcing Doha's role as a gateway connecting Asian diamond markets with the global trade.

President of the Diamond Exchange of Singapore, Fabio Cascapera, highlighted the potential for meaningful opportunities for their members to build relationships and exchange knowledge. Meanwhile, Lin Qiang of the Shanghai Diamond Exchange expressed optimism about the MoU's ability to facilitate practical commercial engagement and create mutually beneficial opportunities. Michio Iwasaki, President of the Tokyo Diamond Exchange, stressed the importance of trust and transparency in the diamond trade and looked forward to strengthening ties and collaboration through this partnership with QDE.

Launched in July 2026 and located at Ras Bufontas Free Zone, QDE offers an integrated and regulated platform for diamond trading and industry services. It plays a pivotal role in connecting Doha with international diamond markets while supporting Qatar's economic diversification goals under Qatar National Vision 2030.
