Nordic and Baltic States Reaffirm Support for Ukraine Amid Ongoing Conflict

Copenhagen: Leaders of eight Nordic and Baltic states announced on Saturday that they had held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, reaffirming their support and pledging to continue supplying weapons to Ukraine while simultaneously strengthening Europe's defenses to deter any further Russian aggression.

According to Qatar News Agency, the leaders of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden said in a joint statement that Russia has not yet committed to a ceasefire or any steps toward peace. The statement added that they fully support solutions that respect Ukraine's sovereignty and bring greater security and stability to both Ukraine and Europe.

The countries also endorsed tightening sanctions and imposing broader economic measures on Russia as long as the war continues. The United States had previously presented Ukraine with a proposal outlining conditions for ending the war with Russia, including Kyiv ceding more territory, reducing the size of its military, and imposing restrictions on its accession to NATO.
