Ministry of Municipality Ensures Stable Food Supply During Regional Crisis

Doha:First paragraph of the news story. According to Qatar News Agency, HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Municipality Eng. Ali bin Mohammed Al Ali confirmed that local markets have experienced no food shortages since the regional crisis began at the end of February.

He made these remarks during Podcast AlTanmiya, an event organized by the National Planning Council. Since the crisis started, approximately six months ago, not a single shortage has been recorded.

In another development, the Undersecretary highlighted that the Ministry has significantly improved its process for issuing residential villa building permits. The time required has been reduced from over thirty days to just one day, thanks to the implementation of artificial intelligence.

The Ministry has trained its AI system on all necessary requirements and regulations, and this technology is expected to be applied to other services within the Ministry. The use of AI has not only sped up the delivery of services but also minimized errors and increased the efficiency of consultancy offices. Moreover, the technology is being used in public cleanliness and building inspections, and efforts are underway to create digital twins for city simulation before decisions are made.

The Undersecretary also discussed the ten million trees project, which aims to plant trees in phases along main roads like Salwa Road, in partnership with entities including QatarEnergy. To date, the project has achieved the planting of four million eight hundred thousand trees.

Additionally, the Ministry is advancing its digital transformation, having digitized nearly 29 million documents. All reports are routed through a unified call center and prioritized based on importance, regardless of the submission channel.

Customer satisfaction has reached 86%, with nearly one million requests handled in 2025 via the Oun application, which has been downloaded over 800,000 times, and through online submissions.
