Doha: The FEI Group VII 2025 finals are set to begin Thursday at the Longines Arena of Al Shaqab in Doha. The event will run until 29 November 2025 and features over 110 riders from 11 countries competing in the children's, juniors', and youth categories. These riders have qualified through the 2024-2025 equestrian season.
According to Qatar News Agency, the F©d©ration €š¬…¡¬°questre Internationale (FEI) rules state that the children's category, for ages 12-14, will have a maximum jump height of 115 cm, the juniors' category, for ages 14-18, a maximum height of 125 cm, and the youth category, for ages 16-21, a maximum height of 135 cm. All categories will have a track speed limit of 350 meters per minute. The total championship prize money stands at EUR 190,000.
Khalid Al Hitmi, Chairman of the Championship, emphasized at a press conference in Al Shaqab that this event is a strategic step toward developing the future of equestrian sports in the region. He noted that the finals serve as an ideal pathway for young riders aiming to qualify for continental tournaments, including the 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
Al Hitmi stated that equestrianism is considered a fundamental aspect of cultural and sporting life in Qatar. Fahad Rashid Al Ameri, Director of the Qatari Show-Jumping Teams, mentioned that the finals will showcase significant participation across all age categories, underscoring collaboration, teamwork, and national pride.
Ashraf Jaber Al Laithi, the Technical Commissioner of the tournament, described the finals as a prime opportunity for emerging riders and for enhancing interaction among athletes, families, and equestrian enthusiasts from Group VII member states.
Al Shaqab Academy, as the event's curator, provides top-tier facilities and organizational support to ensure the finals' success and continually foster young riders to represent Qatar on the international stage.
