Despite being reduced to 10 men in the 85th minute after Jassem Mohammed got the marching orders for a foul on substitute Homam Al Ameen, The Brigadiers managed to hold on to their lead with goalkeeper Marwan Badreldin's heroic save of Edmilson Junior's penalty in the sixth minute of added time, marking a morale-boosting end to a fiery encounter for the visitors.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Duhail got a dream start, with Luis Alberto opening the scoring in the second minute. Edmilson added their second in the 34th minute. Al Ahli's goals were scored by Oumar Sekou in the 17th minute, Michel Vlap in the 36th minute, and Driss Fettouhi in the 80th minute as they advanced to 12 points, the same as Al Duhail.
