Cairo: The Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) is actively participating in a two-day conference titled 'Family Challenges Amidst Major Transformations: A Fatwa-Based Approach to Protecting the Family, Envisioning its Future, and Preserving Identity,' organized by the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide.
According to Qatar News Agency, the DICID is represented by HE Chairman of the Board, Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Naimi. This participation underscores Qatar's continuous involvement in international forums, particularly those addressing issues pertinent to the Islamic world today, such as the challenges facing Muslim families amidst globalization and technological advancements.
The engagement is part of DICID's commitment to addressing issues concerning the Islamic community and collaborating with official institutions in Islamic nations. Dr. Al Naimi highlighted the serious threats to family structures and systems due to contemporary changes, urging international institutions to collaborate with cultural, academic, and religious bodies, especially Islamic fatwa institutions, to preserve family values within the Muslim community.
Dr. Al Naimi views the conference as an extension of Arab and Islamic efforts to uphold family principles as defined by religion and Sharia. He referenced the 15th Doha Conference on Interfaith Dialogue, which also focused on family structures in a changing world, emphasizing the integration of families, faith, values, and education.
He noted the growing pluralism in modern societies, with varied cultures and religions, necessitating interfaith dialogue to promote family values and protect this fundamental societal system. The conference aims to analyze modern family challenges in the context of AI and digital transformation, developing a fatwa-based approach to safeguard family identity and future.
Additionally, the conference addresses digital separation and its impact on human relationships amid technological influences, as well as the social, cultural, economic, and technological changes affecting family stability. It convenes numerous Muslim scholars, fatwa representatives, international figures, ambassadors, academics, and Islamic law researchers, highlighting its role as an international dialogue platform on family futures and the role of fatwas in societal stability.
