Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping said during a phone call Monday with his US counterpart Donald Trump that relations between Beijing and Washington have remained generally stable and have improved since their meeting in Busan, South Korea.
According to Qatar News Agency, Xi emphasized during the call that China and the US must maintain this momentum in relations and stay on the right track. He added that they should expand the list of areas of cooperation and shorten the list of areas of disagreement in order to achieve more positive progress.
Regarding Taiwan, Xi reiterated his country's principled position on the Taiwan issue, stressing that Taiwan's return to China is an important part of the post-war international order. It is worth noting that Taiwan, located in East Asia off the coast of China, is one of the most sensitive issues for Beijing, which considers it an integral part of Greater China and rejects any separatist attempts or actions aimed at achieving its independence.
