Baku – First Vice President of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva, has called for an immediate cessation of the war in the Gaza Strip, aligning with a recent UN General Assembly resolution.
According to Jordan News Agency, In her video message, circulated by the Azerbaijani embassy in Amman, Aliyeva expressed concern over the escalating Israeli-Palestinian conflict, highlighting its repercussions as a large-scale humanitarian tragedy, particularly impacting women and children. She emphasized the necessity of adhering to international law during military operations.
Aliyeva reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s stance for an immediate halt to hostilities in accordance with the UN resolution and a resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on the two-state solution. She also mentioned the opening of Azerbaijan’s representative office in Ramallah this year as a step to strengthen relations between the two nations. Aliyeva pointed out that the unresolved nature of military conflicts often stems from selective application of international law and that double standards and bias worsen the crisis.
