Doha: Arsenal strengthened their position at the top of the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over hosts Sunderland on Saturday in the fourth round of the competition. Bruno Guimaraes opened the scoring in the 58th minute, and Bukayo Saka added a second from the penalty spot in the seventh minute of stoppage time.

According to Qatar News Agency, the victory marked Arsenal's fourth consecutive league win, taking them to 12 points in first place. They now hold a three-point lead over Manchester City, last season's runners-up, who are set to face Manchester United in the derby on Sunday. Meanwhile, Sunderland remained on four points, positioned in 14th place.

Looking ahead, Arsenal will return to action next Saturday with an away match against Brighton, while Sunderland will visit Manchester City on Sunday.

Elsewhere on Saturday, other Premier League matches saw Liverpool draw 0-0 with Fulham, and Tottenham also played to a goalless draw against Everton. Crystal Palace lost 3-2 to Ipswich, Nottingham Forest defeated Aston Villa 2-1, and Bournemouth drew 2-2 with Brentford. Chelsea also ended their match with a 2-2 draw against Hull City.

The fourth round continues on Sunday with Coventry City hosting Brighton and Manchester United facing Manchester City. The round will conclude on Monday with a match between Leeds United and Newcastle United.
