QCSF President Applauds Doha’s Successful Hosting of World University Weightlifting Championship

Doha: HE President of the Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation (QCSF) and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, has commended the success of the 10th FISU World University Weightlifting Championship held in Doha in 2026. In his press remarks, Al Nuaimi highlighted the event's technical and organizational accomplishments, affirming it as a testament to Qatar's capability in hosting significant international sporting events.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Nuaimi emphasized the fierce competition among the weightlifters, who exhibited great enthusiasm and competitiveness throughout the championship. He noted that the successful execution of the event, from its opening to the final day, showcased Qatar's potential to host major international competitions. He further underlined the championship's significance as a global congregation of student-athletes, which fostered fair competition and offered invaluable experiences on various competitive stages.

Al Nuaimi also congratulated Qatari athlete Wissal Yakhlef, a student from Lusail University, for her remarkable achievement of winning first place in the women's over-86kg category, earning three gold medals. He lauded her accomplishment as a significant addition to Qatar's successful hosting of the championship and wished her continued success in future Asian and international competitions.

Furthermore, Secretary-General of the Qatar Weightlifting Federation, Jassim Ibrahim Al Mansouri, extended his congratulations to Yakhlef for her outstanding performance. He expressed gratitude to the organizing committee and all parties involved in the successful staging of the 10th edition. Al Mansouri remarked that hosting the championship at Education City was a crucial opportunity to demonstrate Qatar's organizational expertise and support the growth of weightlifting.

He also pointed out that the participation of approximately 116 athletes from 21 countries reflected the championship's scale and competitive caliber, providing athletes with valuable experiences and learning opportunities from diverse encounters.
