Baghdad The MP Alia Nassif warned against a corrupt attempt to lure and buy the voices of a number of independent MPs to nominate him for prime minister, indicating that this person is a smuggler and accused of killing a school guard.

She said in a statement today, “With our respect for all Iraqi competencies and with our pride in our fellow independent parliamentarians, we have received news that a corrupt smuggler is trying to buy off some independent parliamentarians to nominate him for the position of Prime Minister,” indicating: “This person is a criminal accused of killing a school guard, and he was famous for a scandal of baying the votes of the voters in the last elections.”

Nassif asked: “Is Iraq devoid of honest national personalities and competencies capable of running the country so that this notorious smuggler killer can be nominated?!”

She added, “Just talking about the nomination of this person for the position of prime minister is a major insult to Iraq, and we will not even be respected by the world in international forums.”
