Doha: An earthquake measuring 5 Magnitude on the Richter scale struck on Wednesday off the coasts of Tonga. The earthquake occurred 108 km northeast of Hihifo, at a depth of 10 km, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported.

According to Qatar News Agency, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage.

Tonga, an archipelago of 176 islands in the South Pacific Ocean, is prone to seismic activity due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire.
